X-press 225/3000 for AGB - Alban Giacomo Spa

For AGB - Alban Giacomo Spa - a leading manufacturer of hardware systems for doors, windows and shutters - we studied, designed and built a custom-made 225-ton X-press with a workbench length of 3100 mm. The open-height is 600 mm and the stroke 300 mm. It is a unique machine.

The customer's need

The customer asked us for a special press, capable of forming specific profiles by means of mould clamping systems mounted on the two beams. To proceed, preliminary certification was required.

The top and bottom fasteners were designed by AGB and supplied by Gasparini. The lower, one-piece crosspiece is equipped with a wedge-shaped camber.

The design, of the Easy type, was customised to meet the customer’s requirements.

E-Reflex system

This X-press features the E-Reflex deformation compensation system, which aims to correct one of the main problems of the working phase. In fact, the side shoulders of the press undergo considerable bending during the pressing process. E-Reflex monitors the bending of the structure thanks to a network of sensors in the machine and hydraulic system.

Operational Details

The workpiece loading and unloading process is handled manually, ensuring accurate control during all operational phases. This choice allows operators to work directly on the part, ensuring greater precision and quality in the final result.

The press is designed without rear register, but with provisions on the shoulders for possible future installation.

Safety system

The safety system features a fixed front guard combined with vertical barriers to ensure maximum protection during the moulding cycle.

Energy saving

AGB’s machine is equipped with the ECO Energy Saving Package, whereby the main motor is continuously regulated via a vector inverter. This makes it possible to run the pump at low rpm when low flow is required, and to accelerate to maximum performance when the full available flow and pressure are needed.

This X-press has been equipped with the Industry 4.0 Package.

CNC & software

The CNC is a Delem DA-66T type:

  • 2D graphical touch screen programming mode
  • 17″ high-resolution colour TFT
  • Full suite of Windows applications
  • Delem Modusys compatibility (scalability and adaptability of modules)
  • USB and peripheral interfacing
  • Support of user-specific applications within the control’s multitasking environment
  • Delem Profile Lite TL 2D offline software

Waste basket and other systems

Waste management is optimised through an extraction belt, powered by an asynchronous motor located on the right side of the machine. This system ensures an efficient removal of machining residues, keeping the working area clean and operational. In addition, there is a sensorised basket positioned on the side on the left side, which automatically detects the level of scraps, allowing constant monitoring and timely management of waste materials.

At least, the customer chose to equip the machine with:

  • 1 special foot pedal with bimanual control
  • Provision for Tele-Link remote assistance
  • Heat exchanger
  • LED lighting of the working area
