Metal carpentry
CA-TE S.R.L. is a long-established company based in Parma, which deals in medium-light metal carpentry, mainly consisting of the construction of machines for the food industry, the production of spare parts for locomotives and railway carriages, and the general machining of steel and aluminium. The company had already purchased another Gasparini machine almost 10 years ago and now the need arose for a new investment to expand its production capacity. The customer therefore decided to commission us to manufacture three custom-made hydraulic press brakes with Design Next.
The three X-Press produced are respectively 30 ton and 1250 mm, 225 ton and 3100 mm, 330 ton and 4100 mm.
X-Press 30/1250
This press brake has an open-height of 400 mm and a stroke of 200 mm. It features the E-Reflex deformation compensation system, thanks to which the position of the beam is always under control during the bending process, regardless of length, thickness variations, positioning of the workpiece and sheet metal characteristics.
The backgauge is 4-axis (X-R-Z1-Z2) CNC-controlled, which in addition to the two standard axes also features the Z1 and Z2 axes. It is characterised by the addition of a reference and a stop on one of them.
The upper and lower clamping systems are of the manual type, with tool adapters 100 mm high and manual clamping of the punches.
The CNC is a Delem DA-66S type with Delem Profile Lite TL 2D offline software, 3D visualisation for DA-66T/S.
The 30/1250 press brake is designed with:
- DSP-AP laser safety device with PLC
- 1 standard foot pedal
- LED lighting of the working area
- overhead arm for CNC
X-Press 225/3000
The second press brake has an open-height of 600 mm and a stroke of 400 mm. The backgauge is 5-axis (X-R-Z1-Z2-X6) CNC-controlled and has been implemented with an additional stop on one of the references. It has also been equipped with 2 retractable supports.
This press brake is equipped with Gasparini Adaptive Crowning system working in conjunction with the E-Reflex deformation compensation system, which monitors the bending of the structure through a network of sensors located both inside the machine and in the hydraulic system. These sensors detect any anomalies and compare the position of the crosshead with the oil pressure to determine the actual position of the punch, irrespective of deformations.
This 225/3000 features the GPS4 angle control system for 2 sectors, which monitors and adjusts the angle throughout the bending process. At the heart of the system is the 4-point contact shaped double fork sensor: this detects, on contact with the material, the bending angle of both sides of the sheet and sends the data to the system to execute the bend.

X-Press 330/4000
The third press brake has an open-height of 600 mm and a stroke of 400 mm. This machine is equipped with the Gasparini Adaptive Crowning System and the E-Reflex Deformation Compensation System. Together, these two systems provide excellent results in terms of quality, precision and repeatability of the parts to be bent.
The backgauge has 5 CNC-controlled axes (X-R-Z1-Z2-X6) and has been implemented with an additional reference and a stop on one of them. It also has 2 retractable sheet supports.
Also installed were:
- 2 sliding front supports
- 1 wireless sliding foot pedal
- LED lighting of the working area
- Drive bar for tool positioning
Like the 225/3000, this press brake also features the GPS4 angle control system for 2 sectors.
The upper clamping system is a pneumatic Gasparini AirSlide type with 110 mm high tool adapters for European-type tools. The lower clamping system is of the Gasparini pneumatic type.
